Vampires!
Bright and early this morning I woke up freaked out! I reached for my phone and called my friend ‘Dude’.
“What are you doing up this early?” ‘Dude’ said.
“Having a nightmare!” I exclaimed freaked.
“What about?” ‘Dude’ asked.
“Vampires!” I explained.
‘Dude’ laughed. I would laugh too. At 36 it’s crazy to still have nightmares about Vampires. And no, I did not watch a Vampire movie before going to bed. In fact I typically avoid Vampire movies completely. Vampires having invaded my nightmares since I was a kid. Only back then I would crawl into my parents bed because I believed Vampires were in the closet-- now I just wake up my friends when I have nightmares.
I told ‘Dude’ the story of my Vampire freaky dream. Of how the Vampire in my dream was not the ordinary Hollywood variety Vampire—the Vampire in my dream had a face that I recognized and knew very well. It was my cousin’s boyfriend. His face was clear and very distinct and he had evil eyes and Vampire teeth, like
The Lost Boys. In my dream he had already bitten my cousin and she was either going to die or become a Vampire too. I tried to help her but I couldn’t. Then… he kept trying to get me! No matter how many times I drove a wooden stake into his heart-- he never died. He just kept coming after me and coming after me!
“Everything will be alright.” ‘Dude’ consoled. “He’s not really a Vampire, and he’s not really going to get you.”
“I know. But it was so real!” I continued.
“It’s not real… it’s just a dream.” ‘Dude’ replied.
“Will you be alright?” ‘Dude’ asked. “Can you go back to sleep?”
“Yeah. I’ll try.” I stated.
I hung up the phone and tried to go back to sleep. The Vampire was still there in my mind. He wouldn’t go away no matter how many fluffy kittens I thought of.
Later this evening… after trying to get a hold of my cousin all day, I finally got to tell her about my dream. She thought my Vampire dream was freaky as well!
