The Karmahitlist information chain letter
Thursday afternoon I was busy at work typing boring corporate meeting minutes when I decided to take a break and read a few blogs. I had been listening to Coldplay’s new album X & Y, and even though I really love their new album, I was in the mood to listen to Karmahitlist. Since I didn’t have their CD I went to Karmahitlist’s myspace site and there under ‘upcoming shows’ was listed: Saturday, June 18, 2005 at the Kern County Fairgrounds. My heart skipped a beat. As you may already know I’m in love with Karmahitlist. I had to find out when and where Karmahitlist was playing.

I wrote NL an email:

“Can you find out what time Karmahitlist is playing at that show Saturday??

To which he replied:

“I don't know what time... write them an email?”

“I'll try that... see if they respond.” I wrote him back.

So I wrote this email to Seantastic of Karmahitlist:

“Hey Sean,
I noticed that you guys are playing this weekend at that bike show. Do you know about what time your band will be performing? I'd like to see you perform, but I don't think I'll be able to stay for the whole day.”

And then I started reading some of my favorite local blogs…

Baketown had an entry on the Thunder Run Bike show and listed local bands the Filthies and Karmahitlist as some of the bands performing. Wow! The Filthies and Karmahitlist performing at the same show! I so had to be there.

Since I hadn’t received a response from Seantastic yet I wrote to Baketown:

“Baketown,
I was just reading your blog and was wondering if the schedule for the Thunder Run show this weekend is in today’s Eye Street paper? I would like to know what time the Filthies and Karmahitlist are going to play.”

JR of Illpressed had a Saturday Thunder Run schedule posted on his site but Karmahitlist wasn’t listed. I was confused.

So I wrote to JR hoping to get correct information:

“Hey JR,
I saw your list of bands for the bike show this weekend... but didn't see Karmahitlist listed. Do you know when they are playing and what stage they are playing on? Baketown mentioned on her blog that they were playing Saturday.”

I was getting frustrated. I was waiting for information about the Karmahitlist show from three of the local writers and Karmahitlist themselves. I read a few more blogs before going back to work typing corporate minutes.

And then the responses started coming in…

Seantastic of Karmahitlist wrote:

“We’re playing at 6 30 love.....see ya there.....s”

I wrote NL with the show information:

“Hey, Sean wrote me back and said they are playing at 6:30 Saturday. I wonder what time the Filthies are playing?”

Baketown wrote:

“Okay - Karmahitlit is playing @ 6:25pm on Sat and The Filthies are playing @ noon on Sunday.”

And JR wrote:

“Dude I just got the info. Karma is playing right before Myndsick on the same stage. You going?”

I sighed with relief. I had confirmation in triplicate. Karmahitlist was playing Saturday at 6:30pm and I would be there. I could now plan my weekend around my Karmahitlist addiction.

Thanks to local writers NL, Baketown, and JR for being on top of the local music scene and getting me the Karmahitlist show information. And a great big Thanks and sloppy kisses to Seantastic of Karmahitlist for caring enough about his fans to write me back with the show time.
