One Bakersfield Woman's Blog to Mankind

For all my readers I’ve been neglecting…
“Ok I hate to do this to you but I just have to say you are neglecting...yes I said neglecting your readers of your blog. It has been almost a week and nothing new. I am sure you have had something happen to write about.... book signings and hockey perhaps. Ok enough nagging from me…” A faithful reader and friend wrote me today.

“You can nag... go right ahead and nag. I need nagging sometimes. :) I know I have neglected the blog for a few days. I meant to write in it last night, but that didn't happen... of course you've just given me the opening paragraph to my next blog... :P See what happens when you nag!” I responded amused.

“Are you going to be writing about pushy blog fans?” He worriedly inquired.

No need to worry… I will not be complaining about pushy blog fans. There wouldn’t even be a Matildakay blog without my readers-- those pushy blog fans of mine that will check in every day to see what new adventure I’ve had; what I’m thinking about, what local band or local rock star I’ve fallen for lately, what new torture they’ve concocted for me in physical therapy, if I’ve discovered the mystery to my nationality yet, or just what those crazy annoying cats are up to now, and any other thing that happens to find its way onto my blog. And when I haven’t written in a few days… they remind me that I need to write, not just for me, but also for them, my readers.

It amazes me to know that there are people out there like me, who have their favorite or regular blogs that they read daily, and for them it’s my blog. I’m this way with Dooce’s blog and with NL's site. I have to check their blog's a couple times a day. I have to know what the next adventure in Dooceland will be. I have to know what's going on in the local music, literary and arts scenes. It’s hard to fathom that there are those that need to know what Matildakay’s next adventure is. Especially when I find those ‘adventures’ to be ordinary, not exceptional.

So, for all of my readers that I’ve been neglecting over the last few days… here’s what you’ve been missing in Matildakay’s life since last Thursday.

--Time spent lying on the couch in front of the TV watching an odd movie – 1 night-- odd movie Kinsey.

--The number of Diet Pepsi’s – average 3 a day

--Lords: Part One Book Release Party and book signings attended for local author N.L. Belardes – 2 (Lengthwise and Russo’s)

--Condors Hockey games attended – 1 (Condors won in overtime)

--Local bands heard – 7 (Nunez, Norfolk, The Dalloways, The Filthies, Fatt Katt & the Von Zippers, Mento Buru and Myndsick)

--Books bought – 1 (Memoirs of a Geisha)

--Movies seen at the Theater – 1 (Chicken Little)

--Sleepless nights spent watching bad late night TV – 3

--The number of Super Legs – 160

--The number of Fabulous 4’s – 160

--The number of sour candy – 1 Jolly Rancher Screaming Sour Candy bag

--The number of skittles – 1 giant bag at the Condors game

--Chocolate cravings – Countless

--The number of times I watched the trailer for the new Johnny Depp movie The Libertine – 25

--Laundry not done – 3 loads

--The number of post-it notes with blog ideas written on them – 12

--Jamba Juice's - 1 Orange Dream Machine with a Femme boost

--The number of times my knee was electrocuted – 4

--The number of times someone told me I looked skinny – 1

--The number of times someone said I was pushing 40 - 1

--Flat tires – 1

--Annoying cat sightings – 10

--Amount of money spent on skin care products - $107.00

--Employee performance reviews given – 1

--Days slept in – 2

--Breakfast at Westchester Bowl – 1 (best pancakes in town)

--I voted - did you?

--Favorite local blogger I met for the first time – 1 (New Leaves in March)

--The number of times I’ve listened to Wilco’s Summerteeth album – Countless

I’m sure there are other details over the last few days I’ve missed mentioning… like how many times I brushed my teeth, but hopefully my faithful pushy blog fans will forgive me for all unmentioned details and for not writing.

Look for upcoming blogs about the Lords: Part One book release and other adventures…

Also, Blogger has a new feature that moderates comments, so I’ve turned comments back on and we’ll see how it goes…

New Leaves in March is a very cool and funny person. I think she takes bomb photos.

Did you hear that pffft sound? My ego just got a little more inflated. While the blogosphere colliding was strange, this calling me "New Leaves In March" is a little weird. It's just the blog entity, not my identity. I'd suggest using "Mel" but evidently that could become confusing for many.
