Midnight Panic at Montgomery World Plaza
Midnight Panic had their
CD release show at the Montgomery World Plaza last week and it was quite a show! Marky Chavez and Midnight Panic certainly have a local fan base for their music here in Bakersfield. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that big of a crowd in attendance at the Montgomery World Plaza. I was amazed. The other bands playing that night were the frosting on the cake for attendees, because the crowd was there for Midnight Panic.
I already knew I liked Midnight Panic’s music after hearing it in an
intimate practice session out at the Ranch. However, I was anxious to see how they performed for a live audience. I was not disappointed. Marky Chavez and Midnight Panic really know how to work a crowd! The crowd gathered close to the stage and waved their arms in the air at Marky’s encouragement. Some kids moshed in that crazy run-into-and-knock-people-down way that is synonymous with mosh pits. Usually I end up backing away from those crazy moshers to safer ground even though I’d rather be up close to the stage enjoying the music and the energy of a ‘rock star’ like Marky Chavez.
I stood listening to the music of Midnight Panic with
Flower in the Dale watching Marky Chavez dance on stage and sing his heart out for the crowd.
“What do you think of their music?” I asked her.
“I like it, he really works the crowd!” She replied.
I agreed. This was a great rock and roll show! Even though I wasn’t feeling well and had been suffering a mean case of Bronchitis for a couple of weeks; I was there, I was experiencing rock and roll music at its best. Midnight Panic is a talented band that rocked MWP hard with 12 great songs including Nirvana cover:
Territorial Pissing. Marky Chavez has a way with lyrics. I understand the emotions in
Ugly and his
A Beautiful Lie touches my heart.
The Midnight Panic show was everything I had hoped it would be and so much more. I can’t wait to see more of them in 2006.
