Pinch me I’ve been to Hockey Heaven!
Pinch me for I must be dreaming! This past week I was in Hockey Heaven-- the MEDIA ZONE. The Media Zone sits right on the ice! These are the best seats in the house! The only thing between me, the ice and the hockey players were the boards and a little bit of plexi-glass. My feet were less than a foot from the ice. I could actually smell the ice. Hockey just doesn’t get any better than this.
In the Media Zone--
Condors Hockey never looked better. Players glide and skate swiftly, effortlessly across the ice. The sound of hockey sticks slapping the ice echo’s in your ears. The puck flies into the boards like a rocket and you feel like you are sitting in the middle of all the action.
In the Media Zone-- I became intimate with
Bolduc’s curls poking out from underneath his helmet. I counted
Shiryaev’s whiskers while his face was pressed against the plexi-glass after he crashed into the boards right in front of me while checking an opposing player. I saw sweat dripping from their faces. I realized
Little wasn’t so little at 6’4”. I watched rookie goaltender
Munce pace and stretch and protect the Condors goal with amazing precision. And I sat in awe of veteran and Condors Captain,
Kevin St. Jacques as he slapped the plexi-glass with his hockey stick when he skated by taunting the opposing team and he led the Condors in goals during both games last week.
In the Media Zone-- it rained Lions, Tigers and Bears along with every other conceivable stuffed animal ever thought of on
Teddy Bear Toss night. The Condors fans out did themselves giving thousands of stuffed animals for all the children at Christmas who might not have a toy otherwise. Stuffed animals fell on my head from the upper deck. I picked them up and threw them over the plexi-glass onto the ice after the Condors scored their first goal of the night. It was an amazing site to see the ice covered in stuffed animals.
I will admit that I absolutely love watching the Condor games in the Media Zone! I’ve been Hockey spoiled and I’ll never be the same again…
And just when I thought life couldn’t get any better than watching the Condor game in the Media Zone… the
Stanley Cup was in the house Wednesday night. Yes I saw the Cup, I touched the Holy Grail, I had my picture taken with it and I was floating on cloud 9 in Hockey Heaven.
