A Brand New Look!
In case you hadn’t noticed… Matildakay.com has a brand new look!

A couple months ago I was reading blogs, like I do everyday, when I came across a blog with a really cool photo at the top of it. The same day I was reading B.U.M.S. and noticed that it had a brand new template too. Suddenly I wanted to redesign my blog. I wanted a different template and a photo that went with the theme of my blog.

I searched the internet for different templates than what was currently in the blogger selection and I found one that would work for the look I wanted. The only problem was that this particular template didn’t have all the sidebar features that I wanted, it didn’t have a comments function, and there were other little pick-a-dillos that needed to be fixed. If I was going to make this template work, I had to learn some html fast.

I started asking questions. Mel of New Leaves in March (whose website has a great look that I just love!) was very helpful. She pointed me in the right direction, gave me links to redesign websites, emailed me html code for sidebar features I couldn’t figure out. She let me bug her with dumb questions while she was at work.

I began working on my template in the evenings at home. I tweaked html code until I got the results I wanted. At one point I accidentally turned all of the text blue and didn’t know what I had done or how to change it back. After a day or two of staring at html code I finally figured out how to fix the ‘blue’ problem. I still can’t tell you what ‘padding’ means or ‘hover’ or other words and letters found in html code. But I tweaked and tweaked and tweaked some more until I got the template to look how I wanted it to. I’m actually very proud of myself for being able to redesign my blog mostly on my own.

Now all I needed was the photo…

I asked NL if he would take the photo for my new template and he said he would. This past weekend we took a few pictures and then NL worked his photo magic and the final result is the photo you see at the top of my blog. He did a great job don’t you think.

So here it is… Matildakay.com’s brand new look! I hope you all enjoy it and will come back again and again.

I want to thank those who without them, this blog redesign would not have been possible:

B.U.M.S. and Mike Generic for inspiring me to redesign my blog. And also for impatiently waiting for the launch of my new look.

Mel of New Leaves in March for all of her help with html code and for allowing me to ask as many ‘dumb’ questions as I wanted. Without your help I would never have been able to accomplish this redesign.

And NL Belardes for taking the photo and working his photo magic. Your artwork was the biggest part of Matildakay.com’s brand new look! Without it my blog’s new look would not exist.

I’m sure there will still be a little bit of tweaking here and there that I need to do but at least for now my blog’s new look is finally ready to launch.

3, 2, 1… LAUNCH! Consider Matildakay.com’s new look officially launched.

Congrats. I like the clean white look much better than the pea soup green.

Looks great.

You might want to check the HTML on your archive templates. Linking directly to a post puts your nav out of whack -- way down the right side of the page.
