Merle Haggard vs. Johnny Depp
Can you believe all the hoopla and press that Bakersfield and Oildale have been getting lately over their feud about naming a street after Merle Haggard? The Bakersfield Californian ran a story on the Merle Haggard street controversy, so did the Chicago Sun Times and the BBC. In fact this story is everywhere including on Bakoshpere. It’s ridiculous! It’s unfair! I mean this Bakersfield blogger already named a tribute street, Sleepy Hollow Lane, after Johnny Depp and I don’t see that story all over the news. In fact Sleepy Hollow Lane has already been approved by the City and is already on the map, it’s a done deal. The Merle Haggard Street is still under discussion and part of a feud.

The supposed feud between two cities, Oildale and Bakersfield, is also ridiculous. Oildale is not even recognized as a separate ‘city’ by the City of Bakersfield or the County of Kern. Oildale is just part of Bakersfield, just like Rosedale.

Johnny Depp’s tribute street, Sleepy Hollow Lane, deserves a parade with Johnny Depp movie character floats including: Sleepy Hollow, Benny & Joon, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Pirates of the Caribbean, and all the other wonderful characters Johnny Depp has portrayed, or at the very least a news story. I mean what other Bakersfield blogger has named a street after Johnny Depp and got it approved by the City. Where’s Sleepy Hollow Lane’s press?  posted by Matildakay at 10:46 PM
