Walking in the Vibe
Yesterday afternoon I escaped! I escaped the
Management Consultants. I escaped my routine of work and
physical therapy. I escaped a city where my life doesn’t always flow. And I escaped the Bakersfield heat. With the air conditioning in my car not working at the moment, I was not looking forward to the predicted temperatures of 105° to 108°.
In late June I’m wearing long sleeve shirts and a jacket!Where did I escape? You ask.
“The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco.” Mark Twain said.
I’ve escaped to San Francisco for the weekend where its 76° in the middle of the day and 55° at night!

San Francisco… I’m not quite sure what it is about this city, but I just love it. It has a distinctive emotional vibe, a rhythm that breeds energy and I love walking in that vibe. I don’t know what it would be like to live here, work here, I’ve only ever been in San Francisco as a tourist but I love how this city makes me feel.
I feel strangely alive in San Francisco...
Today I walked in the vibe. I climbed the city’s hills, walked the crowded streets and the wooden planks of its wharfs gleaning its history, wearing its nostalgia, feeling its emotions with every step I took.
I love to walk. After being injured and spending two years of my life where I couldn’t walk, walking is something I will never take for granted again. San Francisco is a city that I love to walk in. There is so much to see, so much to take in, if you’re riding in a car you’ll miss the details. And it’s the details that make this city like no other.
Today I walked along a meandering street next to the bay in Sausalito where quaint shops beckoned. I walked all down San Francisco streets and all over Fisherman’s Wharf pausing here and there for street performers, shopping and taking pictures with my brand new digital camera.
When I figure out how to download the photos, I’ll post some SF pictures for you all…“Ohhh, my legs hurt!” My aunt wailed after walking all day.
“What do you mean your legs hurt? I’m ready for another walk!” I exclaimed.
“I’m not as young as you.” She replied.
“Aren’t you tired?” She asked.
“No. I love to walk!” I explained.
I love walking in the vibe! I thought.
Did you get a bread bowl of clam chowder? Or have some Ghirardelli chocolate?
i love san francisco too... so much energy there...
