Bakersfield Rollergirls and Three Chord Whore find their groove
“Lets stop by the Dome and check out the Rollergirls,” NL said as we were leaving the Gaslight Melodrama Saturday.
“Rollergirls?”
“Yeah a music benefit for the Bakersfield Rollergirls.”
“Why not.”
So we took off for the Dome, that historic venue downtown where boxing matches were once held and ran into Three Chord Whore in the parking lot. Shantell, bursting with excitement, couldn’t wait to share their new music with us. She played their new cd for us in her car and I gotta tell you it was great. It had just the right blend of punk, rock, and pop, I was hooked.
“This is really good, I love the poppy beat,” I told Shantell.
“For the first time I really feel like everything has come together and we’re really a band!”
I've watched Three Chord Whore struggle over the last year and a half going through singers, injuries and now it finally seems like they have found their groove. Keep on eye on Three Chord Whore, they’ve got attitude, new music, and a hook that will grab you right in the heart.

LIKHY2, the best Spanish rock band in town was on stage and their manager Sal was dancing in the crowd.
“I’m not a communist, I’m a socialist,” he said pointing to a symbol drawn on his jeans as I walked up.
NL introduced me to Sal. We’ve been introduced a couple times before, but he never seems to remember.
“Matildakay? I read her blog everyday.” I heard someone say.
“This is Jenny, she reads your blog,” NL introduced us.
“It’s cool when I meet people who read my blog that I don’t know,” I told NL.

Sexy Bakersfield Rollergirls skated around the basketball court in front of the stage in sexy vixen punk rock outfits and punk rock/glam rock/Goth makeup. They were tuff, they had attitude, they’d knock you down if you got in their way and they were HOT. I loved their creative looks! Fish net stockings, short skirts, tattoos, and great makeup! They were art on wheels… It’d be fun to watch these girls in action.

Thanks for noticing that we finally got our shit together. It has taken, what seems like forever, to get it right, but we are happy with the final results!
I love three chord whore. Darcie won't marry me though. I've asked her 17 times.
