I’m a Sixteen Candles woman
“I found a shirt I want.” A friend wrote today.

“What shirt?”

“It says: I love Jake Ryan.”

“Oh my God! I’ve always loved Jake Ryan!”

“Me too!”

“I just watched that movie again the other night on cable.” I said.

“So did I!”

We went on to have a whole conversation about Jake Ryan…

It’s sad to think that some of you women out there probably don’t even know who Jake Ryan is. It’s hard for me to believe that there are women who don’t grow up watching Molly Ringwald in Sixteen Candles and other movies. Who don’t know that Jake Ryan was the epitome of the high school hunk that every girl wanted in the 80’s. Who aren’t in love with Jake Ryan!

For all my fellow Sixteen Candles women, I give you what every girl wants for their sweet sixteen birthday: cake and Jake Ryan holding your underwear.

Long Duk Dong! ha. "Oh...no more yanky my wanky, the Donger need food!"

I love that movie. She is so pretty. I always wished I had fair skin and red hair just like her! The only thing of hers I do share is the freckles.

NL, You are Jake Ryan!

Chingpea, Farmer Ted was cute, and John Cusack made one of his first movie appearances in Sixteen Candles too! :)

I wonder where Jake Ryan is too.

Norma, I agree, I used to want to look like Molly Ringwald too.

Baketown, I love Ducky too! He's great!

oh damn. LOL all those movies came out too close to each other. Their storylines all blur together.

I *heart* anything with Molly Ringwald in it.

I just watched The Breakfast Club the other day. It's funny to watch on t.v. because of the edits. You can totally tell they are cursing but the words don't match the lip movement. haha.

Molly Ringwold's got talent. She puts her lipstick in her cleavage and then applies it perfectly with no hands.

The last movie I saw "Jake" in was Mermaids with Cher and Wynona Ryder. I had a huge crush on him after Sixteen Candles.

Flattery will get you everywhere. But I don't have the car, don't have the clothes, and I'm not sure if I slept with a cheerleader.

I love this blog entry!

Remember the survey?

"If you could do it with someone, who would it be"
and
Have you ever done it...and Molly answers "I don't think so"

Then the survey says

"If you answered 'I don't think so', do they know it?"

I like when his GF is drunk at that party and her and her friend are stumbling down the stairs...and someone says something to her that she says "I don't do that" and then her friend turns to her and says..."yes you do!" and then GF says she knows and they both laugh and nearly fall down the stairs.

That's when she breaks the long pearl necklace, and they all go on the floor!

That's also when she gets her hair stuck in the door, when Jake closes the door on her, and they get this BIG ASS pair of scissors, and cut half of the back of her hair off!!!

Grandma Helen: Oh Sam, let me take a look at you. Fred, she's gotten her boobies.

Grandpa Fred: I better get my magnifying glass. Ha Ha Ha.

Grandma Helen: Oh, and they are so PERKY.
[reaches to cup them]

Samantha: I can't believe my grandmother actually felt me up.

Norma, Molly Ringwald is talented with the lipstick, I'll give her that. :)

Woof Woof, You're that close to Jake? I'm jealous!

Keely, I love "Jake" in Mermaids. Of course I love Cher and Wynonia so that movie was great for me. :)

NL, I'll be sure to pile on the flattery! Wait... you're not sure if you slept with a cheerleader? Surely you would remember that! :)

Jen Raven, Married!

pv, The survey is classic! And those huge scissors! Those are lethal.

anonymous, "I don't do that." "Yes you do." those are two of the best lines in the movie!

kcgabby, "I can't believe my grandmother actually felt me up." Life's most embarassing moments!

I love that everyone loves Sixteen Candles and Jake Ryan as much as me!
