It’s never too late for the Dalloways…
I meant to write sooner about the
Dalloways performance at the Silver Fox last Thursday night. But as life would have it… things got in the way the last few days and I’ve had other things on my mind. And then it occurred to me, it’s never too late for the Dalloways. It’s never too late to write about the Dalloways California Brit Pop dream
music that I love.
Besides fulfilling my love of pop music, the thing I love most about the Dalloways’ music is the magical stories found within their lyrics. Gary Enns is a wonderful songwriter; I never seem to tire of Clarissa’s plight. Their album Penalty Crusade has been a constant companion of mine since the day it arrived in my mailbox.
Last Thursday night at the Silver Fox, the Dalloways played a set of almost all new songs from their upcoming album the Distant Fairs and I fell in love with a whole new set of stories. I can’t wait for their new album to be finished; I need a new friend.
Not only was the music great last Thursday night, but so was the company. I hung out with some of my favorite people. Gary and Cortnie Enns of the Dalloways,
NL,
Jesse and Ska King
Bakotopian Matt Munoz. And James Ratliff of
Norfolk filled in on guitar for the night. It was so good to see him playing music again.
I took a couple pictures with my camera phone although the Dalloways look more like ghosts on that
Day of the Dead night in these pictures than the hip California Brit Popsters they really are.

That's awesome! Thanks again for being there and making the night complete. I added a post script and a pic to "Silver Fox Vibe".
And our comments moderation is working again, thank goodness!
I'm jealous! I remember talking to you about the Dalloways show that night. I had all my kiddos with me at the Dia de los Muertos event.
We live in Porterville. Otherwise I would have driven them home to make sure they went to bed at a decent hour. Then I would have definitely have gone to the Silver Fox afterwards to watch the Dalloways perform!
great article!
I love their music!
The Dalloways were preceded by The Fast Computers. People flocked to see the Dalloways for the first time in Bakersfield--and that was great. But there was a weird drunken euphoric vibe with The Fast Computers. They almost seemed to mock the 1980s with their 80's Revival happy synth rock. I almost want to start a new genre name like the "Eupreighties", a weird kind of almost too-happy 80s resurgent sound that makes people giddy and dance and drink. Not sure if I like it, being a child of the 80s, but you can't deny the movement; and they seemed to gel well with the Dalloways... -n.l.
i love the dalloways. i had the sickies that night. :(

You should write a whole Penalty Crusade review, song for song...
