Matildakay meets Fresh Fish flimmaker Rod Lester at the mall
I was walking through the Oasis at the mall today trying to balance a tray of food while navigating through the crowd, when suddenly I heard: “Are you Matildakay?”
“Yes.” I said looking up.
“It’s great to finally meet you.” A young man said.
“Thanks.”
“Do you know who I am?” He asked.
I didn’t. I had absolutely no idea who he was.
Should I know him? Was he a reader? I wondered.
“No. I’m sorry, I don’t.”
I hate when this sort of thing happens to me. I don’t like not being able to place people when clearly they know who I am.
“I’m Rod Lester. I made the film Fresh Fish.”
“Oh Yes! I loved your film!”
Fresh Fish had been one of my favorite films from last November’s
BIFF. I believe it was shown again at
BIFF 1.5 this past June. Although I was out of town in June and unable to attend BIFF 1.5 and get a copy of Fresh Fish from Rod that he had written he would give me.
Fresh Fish is a stop motion animation wonder that features a fishing pole, fishing net and ice chest that go fishing without the fisherman. It’s adorable! I just loved it!
Rod and his
Motion Sickness Pictures have a couple entries in this year’s upcoming BIFF too. One is a documentary style video of the Russian AN-124 cargo plane that came into Meadows Field a week and a half ago. The second is a lip sync video that was originally made for an online contest.
I’m really looking forward to BIFF this year and Rod’s entries as well as the
Cinema of the Lords entries and everything else BIFF.
In the meantime here’s Rod Lester’s Fresh Fish…
The HTML techy Gods don't like me for some reason... I couldn't get the film to download into this blog entry, so it's in it's own separate blog entry right below this one.
Rod is a very talented fella and you, my darling, are a STAR!
