A Hello Kitty Christmas
I’ve had a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year. I’ve been stressed out about formally filing my auto insurance claim for my whiplash and couldn’t even think about or feel Christmas until it was completed. And since mailing off my claim, I’ve spent my time Christmas shopping, going out to C.A.L.M. to see the Christmas light show, going to school Christmas concerts and listening to Harry for the Holidays. But it’s been the search for Hello Kitty that has made this year’s Christmas preparations special.

Bakersfield’s Hello Kitty Sanrio store closed recently. I don’t understand why as I’ve recently discovered that not just little girls, but adult women are obsessed with Hello Kitty. Besides school supplies, backpacks, purses and lip gloss there is Hello Kitty bedding, shower curtains, clocks, pillows, dolls, and anything else Hello Kitty you can imagine. I couldn't believe just how HUGE Hello Kitty is.

So when an adorable 4 year old little girl became obsessed with Hello Kitty, her mother and I went on a mission. We searched the mall, Target and other stores for every bit of pink Hello Kitty we could find. We covertly bought pink Hello Kitty’s behind the little girl’s back. Come Christmas this little girl will be swimming in Hello Kitty and living out her passion for pink. A passion for pink I might add that her mother is struggling to accept since she hates the color pink. But it’s the sparkle of pink in the little girl’s eyes that melted both our hearts and sent us searching the city for Hello Kitty.

And somewhere in the search for a little girl’s Hello Kitty Christmas… I found a little bit of Christmas spirit.

I might just be INCREDIBLY hormonal, but this made me a little teary. We recently found out we're having a girl and I just know she's going to love pink since Daniel and I don't. I'm hoping she prefers fushia or better yet, purple but chances are she'll love pink. Maybe I'll learn to love it too. :) Happy Holidays!

yeah, the dang kitty kat is sooo annoyingly pink! but the search is an adventure in itself... lol.

i'm glad it helped bring the christmas spirit to you... harry's music in between all the disney did it for me! :)

keely, good luck with the whole fuschia thing. i thought my lil' girl was going to love red since my favorite color is red and i always dressed her in red. it bit my butt. my baby loves pink and yellow. i'm still learning to surrender to it.

happy holidays!

Hello Kitty comes in red as well. I love it!

My teen daughter has the red Hello Kitty throw blanket (which she's had since she was a little kid and still loves now), and the pink comforter set (which she doesn't use ON her bed anymore, but she uses the comforter while cuddling with me on the couch, on our couch potato weekends, watching movies.

Little girls and even teenage girls who are kids are heart are sooo much fun to shop for!

norma,

i HATE pink... but am learning to accept the fact my daughter likes pink in the hopes it's just a phase. lol.

i know hello kitty comes in red and blue, but she is in love with pink. i love red, and have to remind myself that pink is just a faded red.

Well then I'll remind myself that red is really just pink, waiting to happen. hehe. I miss the days when Kristel still liked to dress in girlie girl pink dresses. hehehe

Damn, they grow up too fast!

Keely, Be prepared for your baby shower where you will receive tons of 'pink' things. :)

Jenraven, Keroppi the frog rocks!

Chingpea, Just embrace the pinkness... she might grow out of it. :)

Norma, Little girls do grow up too fast. I'll let you and Chingpea duke out the pinkness.

oh, I'm not trying to duke out anything with chingpea. I have no doubt she'd kick my ass in half a minute.

I'm just jealous, that's all! She has what I want. A baby. I have baby fever. My baby is all grown up. ah. C'est la vie. (did i spell that right?)
