Noveltown Bookshare in Los Angeles
Saturday night was
Noveltown’s first
Bookshare event. Writer and spoken word performer,
Rich Ferguson opened his home to Noveltown, and other writers and artists from Los Angeles to host the Bookshare event. I was looking forward to meeting Rich Ferguson. He’s one of my favorite writers on the
Nervous Breakdown blog and I love his spoken word cd,
Where I Come From.
The assembled writers and artists performed poetry, sang songs, Rich performed his
Rudolph Rant and
NL spoke about Noveltown, the Bookshare events, the Lords of Bakersfield and read from his novel
Lords: Part One.
Wine and conversations flowed as writers and artists connected. All of the artists and writers I met were very talented, tied in with their community, actively following their dreams, receptive and willing to embrace other writers and artists. The kick off Bookshare event was a good time for all that attended. I had a great time!

You too can host a Noveltown
Bookshare event in your home. Become a part of the Bookshare Literary Team. Informal parties promoting books, social networking, cross promotion and literary arts! Contact
Noveltown for more information on how you can host a Noveltown Bookshare event.
I love this idea! Great way to cross-pollinate and have some fun! I love Rich too...
I'm also a Rich Ferguson fan. And an N.L. fan, and a Matildakay fan. I would love to host a bookshare. But do I have to have a talent to showcase? Because if so, I make KILLER homemade flour tortillas in the shape of different States of America.
And yes, I mean killer. A few people have died from eating them. :)
It doesn't have to be about everyone performing... We'd love to showcase tortillas and culture of all kinds!
You are the bomb!
The best way to let you know what I think about you is to..."cut & paste" what I wrote on Nick's blog:
Goodness! I think Bakersfield is on the verge of truly blowing up on the NATIONAL arts scene. Next stop: New York!
There is soooooo much talent out here. It is truly amazing!
I hope the best for all the local artists. NL, you are pioneer! You are truly setting the pace.
With Bakotopians like NL, Matt Munoz, Matilda Kay, AS Ashley, Ill Pressed, Tekwiz, Julia Heatherwick, Chanklas, Olivia at MAS, Belen C., and of course my beloved Twinkster (Norma), Bakotopia Land is on the shot to international recognition!
I am proud to be an adopted Bakersfieldian.
nice to see stuff like this going on ... hmmm. Prose, poetry, and guitar? Sounds a lot like what we did tonight at Russo's ...
:)
