I’m still here…
I’ve been gone from the blogosphere for a few days…

I wonder if anyone noticed. I wonder if anyone missed me? I’ve probably kept my loyal readers in suspense waiting for a blog post. My stats for last week indicate that you all checked in everyday to see if I had returned yet. “Gosh dangit! She hasn’t written anything new!” I imagine to be the PG version of some expletive you screamed when looking up Matildakay.com and finding nothing new to read. I do apologize for leaving you hanging.

So where was I?

I was frolicking on the beaches of Johnny Depp’s Caribbean island in full pirate regalia, swashbuckling, pillaging and searching for pirate treasure with Johnny Depp because there is no one else I’d rather pillage with...

I was climbing the pyramids of the Yucatan with Jake Gyllenhaal, because its something I’ve always wanted to do and I can’t think of any young man hunkier than Jake Gyllenhaal to help me climb a pyramid…

I was staying in a Scottish castle with Bono and Sting picking their musical brains and being serenaded by the two music icons of my lifetime who do music like no one else. I was in music heaven…

What? You don’t believe me? I’m shocked!

Ok… ok… I fess up. I was dealing with this little thing called LIFE.

You know how LIFE has a way of getting in the way sometimes, knocking you down and making you doubt yourself.

In the midst of dealing with LIFE, Maya Angelou whispered...

“You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.”

and I heard her.

She spoke through the mouths of my dear friends who encouraged me and said: “You can do anything.”

“With the certainty of tides”

I believed.

“Just like hopes springing high”

I knew.

“Still, I’ll rise.”

So, I decided that LIFE is not going to win this game. I can do anything! I can dare to do something new.

Something new for the future…

The future may be uncertain but the possibility of changing directions in life is exciting.

So like any good Bakersfield woman, I’ve armed myself with a ‘Whores’ t-shirt and I’m listening to the Filthies sing: Your Turn and I’m “trying to hear things my way” as Melissa Ecker of New Leaves in March instructed. And as my dear friends encouraged, I believe in myself. I can do anything because...

“I rise.”

And now that LIFE has been dealt with, I’ll be getting back to regularly scheduled programming on Matildakay.com.

You can be any age and change direction in life. It's just a simple choice, right?

And you act on it and believe in yourself while doing so.

Sometimes we can only take so much before we HAVE TO move in a completely new direction in life.

You and I are young. We can do anything we want. Sky is the limit.
